December 21, 2012 - Part I

The more and more I read about the shift that is occurring, the more and more my life seems to make sense. I find myself invigorated, uplifted, and excited for the possibilities to unfold. I feel honored and grateful to be alive on the planet at this time in history. I feel humbled as I learn more about this masterful merging of time, patterns and cosmic cycles. I am truly in awe.

For the past year or so, I have come to learn about the significance of the cycle we are currently living in. A cycle, marked by the Aztecs, the Mayans, the Hopi, and other Ancient traditions as an ending and an opening. Basically, as author Gregg Braden states in his new book called Fractal Time, "we are living the completion of a 5, 125 year long cycle that the ancient Maya calculated would end on the winter solstice on December 21, 2012 - a date that was marked on the most accurate calendar in the history of human beings, more than 2000 years ago. More specifically, the sun will be moving into alignment with the equator of the Milky Way, an alignment that we have not seen for over 26,000 years. This alignment falls in a window of time, whereby the winter solstice is a point of reference that the Mayans recognized."

What is even more fascinating to me is that there are two other significant cycles that converge around the same date. One is the completion of a 26,000 year cycle that corresponds with the completion of one full zodiac cycle. In other words, it takes our planet 26,000 to complete one full zodiac cycle (each zodiac sign or age lasts approximately 5,125 years, and there are 12 zodiac signs) and from what I understand, we are ending that cycle too on approximately the same date as the Mayans predicted. It may come as no surprise that we are in the process of phasing out of the Piscean Age and into the Aquarian Age. You can think of the Piscean Age represented by the two fish who embody the idea of separation, competition, duality, black vs. white, masculine vs. feminine, and intuition vs. the intellect. The Aquarian Age on the other hand, represents holism, unity, cooperation, community, and ONENESS. As we look around us, we can clearly see that we are being faced with this choice every day, personally and professionally. I can see in my own life I have the opportunity to choose acceptance and love of who I am (the light and the dark), and acceptance and love of others over separation, judgment, and competition. It is a daily practice. I believe we all have this opportunity to get in step with the Universe's cycles and patterns, phasing out of separation consciousness (Piscean Age) and into Oneness consciousness (Aquarian Age). What an opportunity we have.

As Terence McKenna put it, " we are on the brink of possibilities that will make us literally unrecognizable to ourselves... and those possibilities will be realized, not in the next thousand years but in the next 20 years because the acceleration of innovation and information transfer is so rapid." I love this statement, as it reminds me to open myself to the possible. I believe that we have chosen to be here at this amazing time in history and it will be up to us to awaken to the infinite amount of goodness, connection, and community that is there to emerge.
